Ancient Manuscript Review 52 : Antique Ottoman Quran ( 1179AH)




This is a complete Ottoman handwritten Quran. I acquired it from Istanbul sometime in 2005.

Calligraphy : Nasqh
Design : Text written in Nasqh script on cream paper with vowel & diacritical signs in black & red. 15 lines per page.The first two pages are plainly decorated.

    I'm Faisal, an Indonesian based in Norway. I guess that you're working in Oil/Gas as I'm doing that too.

    I'm also antique enthusiast and having 2 complete Qurans, one mughal and one dluang Quran. In addition to these complete manuscripts, I also manage to have a bifolium of Andalusian Quran dated 12th century AD, in which I acquired from Kuwait.

    I'm also collecting some islamic artefacts like weaponary, pottery, orientalist painting, old rugs etc.

    I'm just wondering where you're from, but you sound like malaysian. If it's true, then I'd like to tell you that I used to live in KL as well and work for Carigali before moved to Norway.

    I'm now after old kufic Quran (8-11th century AD). Just wondering whether you have any information on how to find this Kufic Quran with reasonable price.
